Environmental Sustainability
Boulder County aims to be a role model for environmentally sustainable
operations and policies. One of the Commissioners' three
initiatives focuses exclusively on ensuring that
Boulder County government incorporates sustainability into all of its practices
and policies, from the way our employees get to work to the products we purchase
for daily operations.
In 2005, the Board adopted two resolutions setting the County on a path of
Zero
Waste and
sustainable energy use. For a more
detailed overview of Boulder County's Sustainability Initiative and related
efforts, visit the Sustainability
Web site.
The Boulder County Commissioners are working cooperatively with local
municipalities and organizations to bring sustainable living and working
practices to a countywide level. These collaborations include the
Consortium of Cities Energy Strategy Task Force, which was formed to
address critical energy concerns and strategies, such as reduction of the
emission of green house gases that are producing global warming, the promotion
of renewable energy production, and reducing the energy costs incurred by
residents and businesses.
