Third Annual Caregiving Symposium
At the third annual Caregiving Symposium, an educational event sponsored by BC Aging Services, approximately 250 family caregivers of older adults, service providers, and others interested in caregiving issues learned about local resources, caregiver coping skills, and much more. The event, held on June 18 at Calvary Bible Church in Boulder, featured a resource fair with 70 local agencies, a dozen workshops on caregiving topics, one-on-one consultations with staff and other professionals, educational tables with hundreds of handouts, and lunch. This large event offers the greatest opportunity each year for caregivers to do "one stop shopping" and get information that helps them care for their loved ones. Though the event is coordinated by the AS Caregiver Initiative team, virtually every member of the AS staff, along with other staff of Community Services and City Senior Services, contributed their time to make it a rousing success.
Caregivers who attended were delighted by the Caregiving Symposium and shared comments such as, "It was a terrific event. I would have attended all the workshops if I could. It was wonderful to have so many resources available in one place.," "This was amazing! You keep on doing it the way you're doing it!," and "Thank you for the Symposium. It was very helpful. I appreciate Aging Services so much. Looking forward to next year's!. " |
