Alternative Modes of Transportation

Why Should You Be Concerned?

Quality of Life

  • Are you tired of sitting in traffic?

  • Do you want to continue enjoying unobstructed views of the mountains?

  • Are you concerned how our children will impact the environment?

Health

  • Are you or someone you know bothered by allergies or respiratory problems?

  • Do you value your health and the health of your family?

If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, there are steps you can take to help improve our quality of life and health. Automobiles are the single largest source of air pollution in Boulder County (emission sources). That means that each of us who drive automobiles contribute to the problem.

You can make a difference.

Growth projections for Boulder County show approximately 62,000 additional automobiles in Boulder County by the year 2010. If projections hold true, traffic congestion will continue to become more and more of a problem, as we will be driving twice as much by the year 2015.

What can you do to improve air quality?

  • Consolidate errands into a single trip.

  • Bike or walk when feasible.

  • Ride the bus once a week or get an RTD ECO-Pass that allows you unlimited use on any RTD bus.

  • Establish a telecommute program at your office.

  • Teach your kids, your neighbors, and friends that they can make a difference.

  • Call Ride Arrangers at (303) 458-POOL to locate others who want to share rides and expenses....it will save you money.
