Comprehensive Plan Update on Sustainability Element
Planning Commission adopted the Sustainability Element at their
May 16, 2007 public hearing. The Sustainability Element includes
a definition of sustainability and goals that outline the
County’s commitment to promoting sustainability in all aspects
of County operations. Specific policies regarding an expanded
transfer of development program, structure sizes, and green
building are included in the Sustainability Element to guide
future regulatory decision-making.
Upon adoption of the
Sustainability Element, the Planning Commission also commented
that this is a first step in looking at the issue of
Sustainability in Boulder County; other areas of interest
include sustainable agriculture and forestry, as well as looking
at economic and social sustainability.
