A Public Safety Message from the
Boulder County Sheriff's Communications Dispatch Center

Help Keep 9-1-1 Lines Open!

Every day more than 75 to 100 9-1-1 calls are received by the Boulder County Sheriff's Communications Dispatch Center from accidentally activated cell phones.

On your belt or in your purse, the keypad on your cell phone can be pressed and cause another unintended call to 9-1-1. Cell phones with a single key programmed to dial 9-1-1 can be unintentionally activated.

Lock the keypad on your cell phone and prevent this disruption of the life saving 9-1-1 service. Help keep the 9-1-1 lines open for real emergencies!

Your cell phone retailer can provide you with simple instructions for locking the keypad on your model of cell phone.

Download a color 9-1-1 information brochure (pdf 1.1mb) To obtain brochures for handouts call Ron Rose at (303) 441 - 4601 or (303) 441 - 4444
