The Boulder County Bomb Squad has six members.
From the Boulder County Sheriff's office is Deputy Jim O'Brien, Deputy Eric Robinson and one open position.
The members from Longmont are Sergeant Jeff Satur, Officer Scott Pierce and Fire Fighter Mike Manzo. Each member
has attended a 5 week training class in Huntsville, Alabama. They are required to attend a week long
recertification every three years. They have monthly training sessions to keep up with the latest technology as
well as practice techniques.
The past year or so has produced some new and very badly needed equipment. A new bomb suit, a P.A.N. Disruptor,
a new x-ray unit and some computer equipment have either been purchased or given to the team by the FBI. The FBI is
responsible for giving the teams, throughout the country, equipment. The teams "newest" acquisition a 1985 box
style ambulance. The purchase was made with joint funds from the Boulder County Sheriff's Office and the Longmont
Police Department. After it was picked up, we realized the paint job was actually several collective paintjobs.
It was fully stripped and repainted.
Since painting, the truck is being kept in a secure parking lot at the Longmont Fire Department. The equipment
has been checked and the truck is fully ready for service. Remember, if it looks suspicious, don't touch it, call us. If you see us running, try to keep up.
