Ride-Along Program

The Boulder County Sheriff’s Office offers a citizen Ride-Along program for those wishing to observe first hand the duties of a Deputy or Animal Control Officer.

This program is available to participants between the ages of sixteen to eighteen, with parental or guardian approval, as well as those over the age of eighteen. A Ride-Along Waiver of Liability must be completed.

There are some restrictions for applicants who wish to ride. A routine background check is performed upon the receipt of the completed waiver form. Applicants with a questionable criminal history, or who are deemed to pose a potential hazard to the officer, the public, or themselves, may be disqualified. A patrol watch commander will review the application and make a decision as to the applicant’s qualifications to ride.

Citizens are limited to one ride-along every six months. Completed applications may take up to two weeks to be scheduled for a ride-along, pending the availability of openings.
