Adopt-A-County Road
Modeled after a national program, Boulder County's Adopt-A-County Road program
began in 1990 as a way to keep our roadways litter-free.
The first official volunteer group was the Eldora Civic Association, who
committed to cleaning 4 miles of County roadway in May 1990. Since then, the program has grown to
approximately 1200 volunteers in 69 groups, cleaning 137.9 miles of road.
Western Disposal Services supports the Adopt-A-County Road program by
accepting filled trash bags at no charge.
Many volunteers find that the Adopt-A-County Road
program is a positive experience and say that the program
has created
a way for their group to interact with each other and the community.
If your group would be interested in adopting a County Road, contact the Boulder County Transportation Department at
303-441-3900.
