The Boulder County Alternative Transportation Division provides facilities and programs that encourage and support the use of alternative forms of transportation such as walking, bicycling, carpooling and using public transit. The program also supports recreational forms of transportation such as horseback riding, running, rollerblading, and recreational bicycling.

Because they help reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve natural resources and lessen dependence on the automobile, these programs are a priority for the both the Transportation Department and the County as a whole.

• Transit Services:  Funding and planning support for regional transit services such as the BOLT, JUMP, and the DASH; new transit services such as the LYNX; and planning for future transit services as part of the Consortium of Cities Regional Transit Committee.
   

• Boulder County Bikeways: Award winning paved shoulder program to increase safety and enjoyment of cycling in Boulder County.
   

• Regional Trails:  Prioritized set of existing and planned regional trails that connect communities within Boulder County. The eight trails include the Longmont-to-Boulder (LoBo) Trail, the Coal Creek Trail, the Rock Creek Trail, the Feeder Canal Trail; the UP Rail Trail; the East Boulder Trail; the Callahan trail; and the St. Vrain Greenway Trail.
