Some, like trails and property openings, are very visible to the public. Others are less prominent, but no less important. Work included creating a more sinuous channel alignment, bank stabilization using large wood and boulders, constructing riffles and pools, and floodplain grading. The project will improve the quality of the aquatic, riparian, and wetland habitat, restore stream function, and reduce future flood risk to the open space and neighboring properties.<\/p>\n<h2>Weed Management<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after.jpg\" data-lbwps-width=\"2286\" data-lbwps-height=\"615\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after-300x81.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1673\" src=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after-1024x275.jpg\" alt=\"Hall Ranch Before and After\" width=\"640\" height=\"172\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after-1024x275.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after-300x81.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after-768x207.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after-1536x413.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/hall-before-after-2048x551.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This is a 28 \u00bd acre cheatgrass treatment site at Hall\u00a0 Ranch. The picture on the left shows the site prior to being treated with 7oz. per acre of Esplanade + 12oz. per acre of glyphosate and nonionic surfactant at a 1% solution. The picture on the right shows the amazing results approximately six months later.<\/p>\n<h2>Forestry<\/h2>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after.jpg\" data-lbwps-width=\"2139\" data-lbwps-height=\"858\" data-lbwps-srcsmall=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after-300x120.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-1675\" src=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after-1024x411.jpg\" alt=\"Reynolds Ranch Before and After\" width=\"640\" height=\"257\" srcset=\"https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after-1024x411.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after-300x120.jpg 300w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after-768x308.jpg 768w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after-1536x616.jpg 1536w, https:\/\/bouldercountyopenspace.org\/i\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/reynolds-ranch-before-after-2048x821.jpg 2048w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A forest management project at Reynolds Ranch Open Space promoted the enhancement of aspen trees which were slowly being overtopped by conifer species. Aspen enhancement is important because aspen forests generally have a lower fire risk than conifer species, but aspen stands also foster an incredible diversity of flora and fauna.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Every year, various work groups at Parks &amp; Open Space finish projects.
